Kharak Singhwas the eldest legitimate son of Ranjit Singh and Maharani Datar Kaur. He succeeded his father in June 1839. He was removed from power on 8 October 1839 and replaced by his son Prince Nau Nihal Singh. He became a prisoner and died from a slow poisoning on 5 November 1840.
